Spreading the word about the benefits of adoption, volunteering at an animal shelter and adopting a shelter dog are just a few ways to honor shelter dogs. Have you already adopted a shelter dog? Share your story!
We'd like to share a story about a sweet girl named Chloe. Chloe was born in the South and abandoned as a puppy when she was just a few weeks old. A border collie/husky mix, Chloe was rescued and brought to a shelter in New England. Shortly afterward, she was adopted by a young man and enjoyed five years with him. Due to unforeseen circumstances, her owner had to surrender her. For the second time, Chloe was a shelter dog. But, not for long. A new family had become enamored with her. It was clear that she had been well taken care of, had very good manners and an incredibly sweet disposition. Her beautiful chocolate brown eyes showed a hint of playfulness. She was adopted on the spot. Chloe loves being around people, especially children. She greets everyone with a big smile and a thumping tail. Always up for adventure, Chloe is especially fond of the beach. She also likes rawhide bones, peanut butter doggie biscuits, having her coat brushed, herding her smaller dog "cousins", "horsing around" with the big kids, and snuggling up at bedtime. Given the chance, Chloe will not only greet trick-or-treater's this Halloween, she'll give out kisses with the candy!
