August 3-9th is International Assistance Dog Week which recognizes and celebrates assistance dogs and all they do to help people with disability related limitations. Assistance dogs are specially trained to help people with physical disabilities, post-traumatic stress disorder, hearing impairment, vision impairment, diabetes, seizures, medical conditions and more.
Assistance dogs provide their people with something very valuable - increased independence. This year, the theme for Assistance Dog Week is "Dogs in the Workplace" which places the focus on integrating assistance dogs into the workplace and providing support to employees with assistance dogs and employers.
At Zoomin Groomin, we are honored to be able to care for dogs that care for others by providing full grooming services to assistance dogs. They must be kept very clean because they accompany their people to work, school, stores, restaurants and everywhere in between, so many of our assistance dog clients have weekly or biweekly grooming appointments.
